EWCC, European Women's Champions Cup, was played last weekend in Berlin. My club team Espoo Blues was proud to participate the tournament as being the Finnish national champion last year and we made our way through the final tournament after qualifications in last November (the qualification was also held in Berlin).
I was very excited to get to play in the tournament, as during the qualification tournament in the fall, I had my finger broken and couldn't play at all. We had our first and toughest game in the tournament against Tornado Moscow, who eventually won the tournament and the title of being the best women's club team in Europe. We came second in the tournament, of which I'm really proud of, I think it's a good result for our young team!
Stats about the tournament in IIHF web site.
Czech Women's Hockey site interview (I used Google translator to understand it which was pretty entertaining :). Also nice pictures from the games: Blues - Slavia, Blues - Berlin and Blues - Tornado.
Game reports in our Espoo Blues team blog Hokiblogi (in Finnish).
